Preserving Ancient Handlooms
Founded in the historic alleys of Lahore, The Riwayat was born out of a desire to rescue the dwindling hand-weaving cottage industries of Pakistan. In an era dominated by rapid fast-fashion machine printing, we believe there is a sacred, unmatched beauty in the slight irregularities of hand-spun raw silk and handloomed jamawars.
Every yard of fabric used in our collections passes through the wooden shuttle looms of generation-old weavers in Multan and Sialkot. They tell the emotional stories of their ancestral visual systems with every push of the loom.
Fair Wages for Rural Artisans
Luxury is empty if it is built upon the exploitation of the hands that make it. The Riwayat works directly with independent female artisan cooperatives in remote desert villages of Sindh and Southern Punjab.
By eliminating predatory third-party brokers, we deliver up to 60% of product retail profits directly back to the embroiders. This allows these resilient women to send their children to local schools and earn sustainable livelihoods directly inside their homes. Every gota star, mirror panel, and bronze tilla stitch on your outfit is a symbol of their economic independence.
